HEY MR. TALIBAN SING A SONG FOR ME

Today's Age reports on the death of a leading female Afghan politician who was shot dead after leaving a provincial council meeting in Kandahar, southern Afghanistan - TALIBAN MURDER WOMEN'S CHAMPION.

"The Taliban claimed responsibility," says Jon Boone of the Guardian reporting from Kabul.

The story is a tragic reminder of the struggle for women's rights not only in Afghanistan but in many parts of the world, particularly where Sharia Law applies.

Places such as Gaza where Hamas introduced Sharia Law in December, 2008 and where women are treated not dissimilarly to those under the Taliban. The only difference is that when a woman is harmed in Gaza for seeking to uphold her rights, it's unlikely that you'll find a report as damning as Boone's article is in the Age or any mention of it at all.
