The rank hypocrisy of the Age

Yesterday, the Melbourne Age published another article by its Middle East bureau person on Hana al-Shalabi, a suspected member of Islamic Jihad held under Israel's administrative detention laws. Ms. al-Shalabi is on a hunger strike in protest against being held in this manner and other Palestinian prisoners are on hunger strikes in sympathy with her. This follows another hunger strike by a Palestinian detainee Khader Adnan which was also reported in the Age and ended last month when Israeli authorities agreed to release him.

Another Palestinian detainee also commenced a hunger strike this week. Yousef al-Shayeb is a journalist held by the Palestine Authority after he wrote about corruption in the Palestinian diplomatic mission in France.

His story did not appear in today's edition of the Age.

This might come as a surprise to you Mr. Post but there are many more stories that didn't crack a mention either like Hamas arresting dozens of Fatah members in Gaza, lies coming from PA officials on any number of subjects and anti-Semitic spewed in the media, churches etc.

The Age shies away from such stories.
