Benny Morris: "The 1948 War Was an Islamic Holy War"

Respected Israeli historian describes Israel's 1948 War of Independence as an " Islamic Holy War". Here's an interesting recent article including an interview with Morris from the Middle East Quarterly.

"I am not a historian who conceals things," Morris says. "There are historians who are always preoccupied with concealing things, but I always have believed it is important to teach the truth."

The truth is that the catastrophic aspect of the "nakba" from an Arab point of view was its failure to win that war and therefore to achieve its stated aim of massacring the Jews.
